Error: This version of Microsoft SCANDISK...(due to not Windows 95 ScanDisk).
Error:
This version of Microsoft SCANDISK will work only with MS-DOS versions 6.0 and later.
Cause:
The old MS-DOS version of 'ScanDisk' is being run from the DOS directory from a Windows 95 command prompt. This version does not run in Windows 95.
Solution:
Run the Windows 95 version of 'ScanDisk' from the 'Systems Tools' menu in 'Accessories'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Programs'.
3) Select 'Accessories'.
4) Select the 'System Tools' menu and select 'ScanDisk'. (The 'Scandisk' dialog box appears.)

5) Select the drive to check for errors from the 'Select the drive(s) you want to check for errors' list box.

6) Select one of the following radio buttons in the 'Types of test' group:
a) Standard (checks for file and folder errors)
b) Thorough (surface testing option)
NOTE: Surface testing requires a longer period of time to run ScanDisk.
7) (Optional) Select the 'Automatically fix errors' check box.
8) Click 'Start'. (A 'Results' window appears when ScanDisk completes.)
9) Click 'Close' to close the 'Results' window.
10) Click 'Close' to close ScanDisk.
